BaitTank is a receptacle that attracts cigarette butts and educates the public on their impacts on the environment.

After learning that the toxins in littered cigarette butts leach into rivers, lakes, and oceans have an adverse effect on water quality and marine life (not to mention the economic impact of clean-up costs on cities and businesses), Mark Armen researched litter behavior and created BaitTank.

A reused surfboard fin ontop draws attention and cigarette butts are placed inside the gill cutouts. In addition, the patent-pending Fish-Saved Meter is a positive educational tool that creates a mental connection between butts and the environment.

Research indicates that 38% of cigarette litter occurs because there is no nearby receptacle and the remaining 62% occurs because the person has no awareness or motivation. Therefore, BaitTank was designed to attract AND educate.

It's working! In one study by Save Our Shores in Santa Cruz, BaitTank helped reduce butt litter by 60% in one month, enhanced the community, and reduced city employee workload.
